POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ION MASS SPECTRA OF RING - SUBSTITUTED NITROBENZENES
The 70 ev positive and negative ion mass spectra of ring-substituted nitrobenzenes were studied. The influence of the substituent group on the fragmentation modes of the molecular ions is discussed. The effect of pressure in the formation of negative ions was also studied. As expected, the ratio of fragment ions to negative molecular ions decreased with increasing pressure in ion source.
متن کاملNegative ion mass spectra of some polychlorinated 2-phenoxyphenols.
Polychlorinated 2-phenoxyphenols were studied by negative ion mass spectrometry. Common to almost all of the methane enhanced negative ion mass spectra were (M-1)-, (M-36-)-., (M-37)-, (M-72)-., and chorinated quinoxide ions. The (M-36)-. ion does not apparently form in a mechanism analogous to the thermal or photochemical ring closure of these compounds to form the chlorinated dioxins. The chl...
متن کاملMass Spectra and Photodetachment of Sodium Fluoride Negative Ion Clusters
A flowing afterglow discharge ion source with NaF vaporized into the flow produces the expected stable anions F-(NaF),, as well as the unusual species Na(NaF); and (NaF); (n < 17). The dominance of (NaF); suggests that it has a particularly stable structure. A fixed-frequency laser has been used to photodetach electrons from mass-selected ion beams extracted from the flowing afterglow. Photoele...
متن کاملElectron Impact Detachment of Weakly Bound Negative Ions
A method is presented for accurately calculating the total electron impact detachment cross section for weakly bound negative ions. The results are compared to recent experiments for electron impact detachment of H and B. Cross sections differential in energy are presented which elucidate some of the dynamics of the detachment process. A scaling law for the cross section is proposed. [S0031-900...
متن کاملCharacterization of O-sulfopeptides by negative ion mode tandem mass spectrometry: superior performance of negative ion electron capture dissociation.
Positive ion mode collision-activated dissociation tandem mass spectrometry (CAD MS/MS) of O-sulfopeptides precludes determination of sulfonated sites due to facile proton-driven loss of the highly labile sulfonate groups. A previously proposed method for localizing peptide and protein O-sulfonation involves derivatization of nonsulfonated tyrosines followed by positive ion CAD MS/MS of the cor...
